Applying sustainable principles into the daily practice of planning, design, and construction
Incorporating triple bottom-line environmental, economic, and social benefits into individual projects
Leveraging resources and insight from engineering professionals, organizations, and rating systems
Infrastructure Rating System Illinois Section ASCE encourages the use of the Envision® Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System, which was developed in joint collaboration between the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. ISI was founded by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Public Works Association (APWA), and American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). Envision® evaluates, directs, and gives recognition to infrastructure projects that use transformational, collaborative approaches to assess the sustainability indicators over the course of the project’s life cycle.
