About the project
- Opened in Summer 2024 to fill a critical transit gap on the Near West Side, improving access for Westhaven Park residents, Kinzie Industrial Corridor workers, and United Center visitors.
- Designed by Perkins & Will, a globally renowned architecture firm, and constructed by CDOT with an $80 million budget funded through the Kinzie Industrial Corridor TIF District.
- Features a transparent glass façade showcasing a grand stairway and escalator.
- Includes a glass bridge connecting platforms, inspired by Chicago’s steel bridge heritage.
- Built with low-maintenance materials for long-term durability and sustainability.
- Showcases a monumental mosaic artwork by Fo (Folayemi) Wilson, reflecting the cultural richness of the surrounding community.
