Bentley OpenRoads Designer: Drainage and Utility Workflow Training

September 22 - September 23

Mark your calendar for an upcoming Bentley OpenRoads Designer: Drainage and Utility Workflow Training. This session will provide an overview of best practices, efficient workflows, and practical applications for designing drainage within OpenRoads Designer. Whether you’re looking to build your skills or improve your current workflow, this training will offer valuable insights for transportation and civil engineering professionals.

Day 1: Foundational Design & Modeling Fundamentals

  • Morning Session: Investigate stormwater design and analysis with Bentley’s OpenFlows Storm. To build a strong foundation, we will dive into hands-on exercises that review key hydrologic and hydraulic concepts, analyze system design requirements, and show you how to model physical infrastructure digitally.
  • Afternoon Session: In this interactive session, we will walk through the foundational workflow of building a model from scratch: compiling your GIS or CAD source data, creating the network layout, and routing flows to ensure proper system conveyance.

Day 2: Advanced Mechanics & Real-World Solutions

  • Morning Session: Elevate your modeling capabilities by tackling complex drainage components. Learn the nuances of culvert hydraulics, design effective detention and retention ponds, and discover how integrated 1D/2D modeling can simulate complex overland flood paths and surface runoff behavior.
  • Afternoon Session: Bring it all together in a final, cumulative workshop. You will apply your newly acquired skills to a comprehensive project scenario, utilizing Bentley’s end-to-end stormwater solutions to troubleshoot, optimize, and finalize a production-ready engineering model.

Dates: September 22nd – 23rd

Location: 33 N La Salle, Chicago, IL
