SUMMARY:GI October Dinner Meeting - Multi-tiered Evaluation of Earthquake-Induced Settlements: Application to Case Studies from the 2023 Türkiye Earthquake Sequence
DESCRIPTION:Join us with Professor Renmin Pretell and Dr. Ozgun Numanoglu as their presentation will demonstrate a multi-tiered framework to assess earthquake-induced settlements\, ranging from empirical liquefaction methods (Tiers 1-2) to advanced numerical simulations (Tiers 3-4). Applied to three sites affected by the 2023 M7.81 Pazarcık Earthquake\, the framework shows that conventional free-field methods generally overestimate post-shaking reconsolidation settlements. Advanced partially drained and 3D soil-structure interaction analyses more accurately reproduced measured settlements and identified the governing settlement mechanisms. \n  \nRegister Here!

SUMMARY:UESI & CI: Unlocking Subsurface Data: Workflow from SUE to GIS
DESCRIPTION:As infrastructure projects increasingly rely on precise subsurface data\, standardizing how Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) deliverables transition from CADD to GIS is critical. This one-hour technical session details a standardized data pipeline designed to automate and streamline this transition. This session is recommended for SUE professionals\, GIS specialists\, CADD technicians\, and project engineers involved in utility coordination\, subsurface data management\, and digital project delivery. \n1.0 PDH UPON COMPLETION IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE IS RECOMMENDED & LIMITED TO 100 REGISTRANTS \nPresenters:  \n  \nTyler Petersen IDOT Region One Utility Coordinator \nAt the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)\, Tyler serves as an Area Utility Coordinator for Kane and northern Cook Counties\, managing the coordination of utility relocations for public improvement projects and overseeing the permitting of public ICC certified utilities within the IDOT right-of-way. Tyler has been with IDOT for 17 years\, developing a deep technical understanding of engineering principles\, utility relocations\, and infrastructure development—earning the respect of colleagues and industry professionals alike. \n\nHis role involves navigating complex regulatory requirements\, working closely with government agencies and utility providers\, and ensuring critical transportation projects stay on schedule. He also oversees Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) contracts and guide field inspectors\, maintaining high standards of accuracy\, efficiency\, and safety in utility management. Outside of work\, Tyler is an avid golfer\, drawing on the discipline and precision of the sport to inform my dedication to professional excellence. \nThano Tziforos Director of Subsurface Utility Engineering\, American Surveying & Engineering\, Ltd. \nMatthew Moorehouse\, P.E. Project Engineer\, American Surveying & Engineering\, Ltd. \n  \nRegister Here for the Event
