DESCRIPTION:A two-day beginner HEC-RAS course will be hosted by EWRI Chicago Chapter and the Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM) this fall! The course will cover modeling steady-state open channel hydraulics\, culvert crossings\, bridge crossings\, and introduce more complex modeling scenarios. Each participant will get a hands-on experience with steady flow hydraulic analyses through example problems with the help of experienced instructors. \nCourse begins 830am and ends 430pm. Register Here \n\n\nAbout the project \nThis project involved the replacement of Bridge A-32 over Milwaukee Avenue\, which was originally constructed in 1899 and had become a source of operational delays along the Metra Milwaukee District North Line. The work included the construction of a temporary shoofly bridge and temporary platforms\, and the final bridge included new caisson foundations\, concrete abutments and columns\, steel plate girder bridge\, and precast retaining walls. Adjacent to the bridge\, Grayland Station has been completely rehabilitated to include longer platforms\, ADA-compliant ramps and stairs\, and new fully enclosed warming shelters with on-demand heating\, modernized public address system\, visual information signs\, enhanced lighting\, and platform furnishings. These improvements serve to modernize the aging infrastructure\, improve service reliability\, and enhance the commuter experience. \n

SUMMARY:2025 Transportation for Illinois Coalition (TFIC) Legislative Lobby Day
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Legislative Drive Down on April 30th.\n\n\n\n\n\nASCE Illinois Section has been a part of the TFIC for nearly 15 years and has been a great partnership. We will have our 2022 Illinois Infrastructure Report Card on-hand to help inform our legislators about the status of our Illinois Infrastructure\, which has been used by TFIC in their legislative outreach. The Transportation for Illinois Coalition unites stakeholders from business\, labor\, and local governments to educate policymakers and the public about the need for adequate investment in Illinois’ transportation infrastructure. The TFIC is the recognized authority on and unifying voice for transportation needs in Illinois. TFIC exists to achieve the best transportation systems in order to guarantee economic success. This includes and touches many aspects of the transportation network from roads/highways\, bridges\, airports\, shipping/trucking\, intermodal\, rail\, and agricultural needs. There will be Leadership Briefings and Legislator meetings setup by TFIC. In the evening there will be a legislative reception. \n\n\n\n\n\nTentative agenda:\n\n\n\n\n\n11:30am: Welcome\n\n\n12:45: Walk to Capital\n\n\n1:00: Lobby Day Leadership Briefings\n\n\n2:30: Legislator Meetings\n\n\n5-8pm: Reception at Vinegar Hill Mall in Springfield\, IL\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease Register for this event here.
