Recognizing that there will be challenges\, CTA is taking a conscientious approach to construction and working closely with each of the communities and its leaders to minimize negative impacts.

This corridor had not seen any significant improvements since originally built in the 1950s and connects downtown Chicago to the west side along I-290. In 2022\, Kiewit was the apparent bid winner on this $105 million dollar project to rebuild the first section of track between the IMD station and UIC-Halsted. The project was awarded March 1\, 2023 with a planned full shutdown of the blue line in July; just four months later.
