SUMMARY:CI: Metra Bridge A-32/Grayland Station Tour
DESCRIPTION:There’ll be an informal happy hour following the tour at The Booze Hound (3734 N. Milwaukee\, Chicago\, IL 60641). \n\nRegistration ends September 15\, 2025. Register Here \n\n\nAbout the project \nThis project involved the replacement of Bridge A-32 over Milwaukee Avenue\, which was originally constructed in 1899 and had become a source of operational delays along the Metra Milwaukee District North Line. The work included the construction of a temporary shoofly bridge and temporary platforms\, and the final bridge included new caisson foundations\, concrete abutments and columns\, steel plate girder bridge\, and precast retaining walls. Adjacent to the bridge\, Grayland Station has been completely rehabilitated to include longer platforms\, ADA-compliant ramps and stairs\, and new fully enclosed warming shelters with on-demand heating\, modernized public address system\, visual information signs\, enhanced lighting\, and platform furnishings. These improvements serve to modernize the aging infrastructure\, improve service reliability\, and enhance the commuter experience. \n
